This image is of an old barn red window on the property of the Old Mill of Guilford where all their products are stored. There are a number of out buildings on the property, swing bridges and a huge waterfall where the creek comes through to the Mill. The wood is so old it bows and the window almost looks crooked as it sunk some inside the wall.
Old Mill of Guilford was founded in North Carolina on Beaver Creek in 1767 to grind grain for the early settlers of what is now Guilford County. Today, the mill continues to produce all-natural, stone-ground, whole grain foods, just as it has for over 240 years. The Old Mill of Guilford is on a large historic part of land, that includes a barn, used to make bread on the outside oven, a storage barn and stable, a hanging bridge and an old pumphouse across beaver creek. This image one of their red window shows the old wood with knots in it and how it has warped, leaned and bent with the wear of time showing in this photo. The red window reflects the sky with clouds showing and part of a tree that is off to one side of it. When I saw this window, it made me think of what it has witnessed over all the years of history that the mill and our country has seen over so many years.
