Description
This image was taken of these old gears next to the Old Mill of Guilford's front porch. They had many uses, but most probable is to turn the huge red water wheel at some point during the Mill's life. The Old Mill of Guilford is a member of Society for the Preservation of Old Mills, and listed on the U.S.National Register of Historic Places. I took this image in black in white as I liked viewing some of the vintage photos of the Mill, also in black and white.
Here is the registry information on the Old Mill of Guilford:
The Old Mill of Guilford was founded in North Carolina on Beaver Creek in 1767 to grind grain for the early settlers of what is now Guilford County.

Love the industrial feel to it... almost like old times in a mining town out west! The black and white, the gears, the rocks, the mood... all perfect. Well done Sandi, Fav/Like

V. How interesting for these elements to be stacked together to form a very nice composition! This is very well done with good sharpness in the stones and fally off to a softer look on the top object. The B&W is a good choice. The rock at the bottem looks like it is poping over the border.
