Description
This mollusk shell is part of a sea shell collection I have been saving for many years. I love the ocean and beach, and every chance I get to go I try to get there and bring my shell bag with me to search for unique ones. A mollusc shell is formed, repaired and maintained by a part of the anatomy called the mantle. Any injuries to or abnormal conditions of the mantle are usually reflected in the shape and form and even color of the shell. When the animal encounters harsh conditions that limit its food supply, or otherwise cause it to become dormant for a while, the mantle often ceases to produce the shell substance. When conditions improve again and the mantle resumes its task, a "growth line" is produced. I find this interesting as I have found shells that appear to be uneven on the entrances to them.

Sandi, this is a gorgeous image! I love the sky and clouds as well as the beautiful gold shell, with its great contours; I also love your description of this work and the mollusk! l/f/g+

Beautiful design, contrasting zig zag with spiral form, and popping color complements. It's vibrant and beautiful. Well done, Sandi. FV!
