This image started as a watercolor that I added acrylic to a basic snow scene of snow that I painted in with different paint brushes, the trees and splashes of snow, then the deer and a blue based background. I finished up with brushes in Photoshop digitally painting. Members of the deer family (Cervidae) are cloven-hoofed ungulates that typically have compact torsos with long, slender legs and small tails — and most males have antlers. The family is quite large, and includes caribou, elk, moose, muntjacs and wapiti. Deer are the only animals that have antlers. They are the fastest growing living tissue on earth. Antlers are usually only found on males. In some species, like caribou, you will also find them on females. Best known for their highly-strung and skittish behavior, deer personalities are shy and demure. There are over 60 different species of deer worldwide. A male deer is called a buck but some larger males are referred to as stags. All species of deer have antlers, with the exception of the Chinese water deer. Each year, antlers fall off and regrow. Keen senses of smell, vision and hearing have a lot to do with deer "intelligence." Deer often sense the presence of hunters long before hunters sense them. ... Those individuals, males and females, that are most wary and hyper-vigilant, tend to survive hunting seasons.Fine Art Doe And Her Fawn Winter Scene Mixed Media Painting Digital Artwork by Sandi O'Reilly, All Rights Reserved and Copyrighted in the US and Internationally.
