Artist's Description
This photo was taken at the Old Mill of Guilford grist mill that operates in Oak Ridge, NC. This is a wagon wheel gate, that includes two very old wagon wheels fastened to stone sides that open to Beaver Creek that runs behind the mill. Stepping stones take you across the creek to the old pump house. I liked the rustic detail of this wagon wheel and decided to shoot it up close with the old stone wall behind it.

The Old Mill of Guilford was founded in North Carolina on Beaver Creek in 1767 to grind grain for the early settlers of what is now Guilford County. Today, the mill continues to produce all-natural, stone-ground, whole grain foods, just as it has for over 250 years. The gate was added approximately around 1913.
