Description
These Day Lillies grow around our huge willow oak trees starting in late spring. These two were larger than most of them and captured them together. They open in the morning and die by night fall. However, each flower stem (also called a scape) typically has at least a dozen flower buds, so the plant stays in bloom for several weeks. The daylily is a flowering plant in the genus Hemerocallis, a member of the family Asphodelaceae, subfamily Hemerocallidoideae. Despite the common name, it is not in fact a lily. Gardening enthusiasts and professional horticulturalists have long bred daylily species for their attractive flowers. Wikipedia
