Description
We frequent Wilmington and Carolina Beach and it's park frequently. This tree was very unusual and have not found out what kind it is by searching. Carolina Beach State Park
with a marina providing access to some of North Carolina's best fishing spots, a secluded camping area beneath towering trees, and miles of hiking trails that traverse a variety of distinct habitats—not to mention the presence of the Venus flytrap, one of the world's most unique carnivorous plants—it's no wonder Carolina Beach State Park is a popular coastal attraction. Located in an area steeped in both history and natural diversity, the park includes a visitor's center with exhibits depicting the wonders of its environment.

It looks like a Turkey Oak Tree. I dug a little harder in the Carolina Beach State Park info, and looked up the trees and shrubs there. Then looked at images of Turkey oak trees, and this looks like it. I am very fond of trees, and this one really speaks to me. None like this in my neck of the woods. A great shot of its beauty, lovely with digital art effects. Beautiful, Sandi! LF
