At our coast, we have several tall ship gahterings, and the pirate Blackbeards museum at the N.C Maritime Museum in Beafort where artifacts are located for the Queen Anne's Revenge, Blackbeards ship that wrecked nearby. Also the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum in Hatteras,on the Outerbanks of N.C. also have some of the ships parts and information. The term “Tall Ship” has been used occasionally since Shakespearian times. Most agree, though, that the term was first used regularly following the organization of the first Tall Ship races. Today, the term is used frequently as a generic description of traditional sailing vessels of all rigs.
There are many different types of sailing ships, but they all have certain basic things in common.
