Description
The Super Moon, which rose on March 19, 2011, was the closest to the earth of any full moon in 20 years. As a result it appeared much brighter and larger in the sky. This photograph was taken as it was rising. That day, the sun set and the moon rose only 10 minutes apart. I was told that the small strip of yellow on the right was probably the last of the sun hitting it at an angle it as it rose.

Sandi, what an outstanding portrait of this fabulous Super Moon! One of the very best lunar captures I've ever seen, with absolutely beautiful details and textures and awesome clarity. Gorgeous work! F/L

I always enjoy photographing the moon. I often wonder if anyone on the moon is photographing the earth at the same time I'm photographing.

Jay, thank you so much for the nice comment :) 100 ISO, 1/250, 380mm -.03 but I was adjusting that around so probably about right and caught it when it was rising and it had a yellowish cast.
