Description
"Me And My Shadow" really happened by accident. We grow sunflowers and love them. This image is of a photograph that I took after holding one downward and when I looked down the light was perfect for it's shadow. So I set this image up and the light to get the effect that I wanted. There is great detail in the petals of this sunflower and I used textures with the image to add to the effect. Because they are fast growing and some of ours have been 10 feet tall, we are expecting even more very soon. The sunflower has so many uses, the birds love them for food, butterflies and bees for pollen. The seeds are great roasted and their oil good for us. Sunflower heads consist of 1,000 to 2,000 individual flowers joined together by a receptacle base. The large petals around the edge of a sunflower head are individual ray flowers which do not develop into seed. The sunflowers tract the sun's movement. So, they deserve to have their shadow recognized!!!

What a unique and beautiful insight into the world view of a sunflower! They do spend so much of their time "looking" at the ground! Gorgeous and engaging work! fav
