Description
During a walk on the Owl's Roost Hiking and Biking trail, I heard a bike coming from behind and moved out of the way to let him pass. This image is of him climbing back up a hill during our fall color of the trees. We have several Mountain Biking groups that use this trail because of the difficulty.
Whether you're hiking or biking, the Owl's Roost Trail promises a good workout. Voted the "best urban mountain biking trail" in the country by Bicycling Magazine, in 2003. The dips, twists, turns, and hops on the Owl's Roost Trail make it a regional favorite for single-track riding. This trail is rugged compared to some of the other watershed trails and is the most technical ride in the system and is 4.3 miles. The additional 1.3 miles of old fire lanes that have been converted to trails add an extra benefit to the trail. It is one of six watershed trails designated as part of the North Carolina Mountains-to-Sea Trail and is sponsored by the Greensboro Fat Tire Society.
