Description
Chasing this Dragonfly was a chore and he finally landed in this position and allowed me to get in place behind some bushes to zoom in and capture him. I have never seen one land like this before and I still laugh when I look at this photo. I will never stop being amazed at what all of God's creatures will do.

Perfect, textbook capture Sandi. Here is some info on the little poser. Dragonflies use this position called obelisking to stay cool on very sunny days. By raising there tails they expose less body area to the direct rays of the sun, thus staying cooler. Male blue dasher dragonflies like this one also use this position on occasions to show dominance over other males and establish their personal territory. - Back to your image, I give it a L&F.
