Description
This image is one from a farm that grows roses of all kinds. I was looking for the Cabbage Rose or May Rose (Centifolia) I to get photos and paint for the roses are used in Chanel No.5 perfume and harvested in Grasse, France, steamed to get the oils out of the flowers. I have digitally painted this image a variety of different sized brushes, more smaller ones and yet with depth of color for impressionistic look. These roses are grown here and in many gardens and fields around here. A beautiful shade of deep pink, 3 1/2" cupped cabbage shaped, old fashioned, very double blooms (centifolia means 'hundred petaled') are blessed with a strong heady perfume. They are produced on a somewhat arching plant with grey-green leaves.
