Description
I can never forget seeing this large sunflower field in full bloom that seems to go on forever. it is a sight to see as they all turn their faces to the sun and in unison. This image was captured at a large sunflower field out in our county. A nursery grows this field of the plants for people to come and visit and I was fortunate enough to be one if it's visitors. This bird landed on this one opening sunflower and I was blessed to have captured this moment. Textures were used with this image.
Sunflowers grow best in locations with full sun; they prefer long, hot summers to flower well. It's easiest to sow seeds directly into the soil after the danger of spring frost is past. Ideally, the soil temperature has reached 55 to 60 degrees F. Special attractions of sunflowers is they attract butterflies and birds and can be grown in any yard that gets lots of direct sun.
