Description
This image is the same one only longer and darker so it will fit greeting cards and products better. I love horses. Most people that know me well, know this. I worked with trying to get wild mustangs adopted for some time, saw them in person freshly rounded up off the western states and some others across the country. Most got adopted but some did not. I worked on this image with them in mind and how beautiful it was to see them and the blood lines in many of them from the Spanish horses brought over here around 1500. I did a combination of watercolor, acrylics and digital art. The Mustang is a typical North American wild horse, which originated from horses brought to America by Spanish conquistadors. The word mustang comes from the Spanish word mestengo; associations of graziers, and one of their jobs was to deal with strayed cattle. Mustang is a symbol of the American Wild West and represents grace, beauty, speed and independence, so today the word mustang is often used in products of high class (motorcycles, cars). In 1971, the US Congress recognized Mustangs as a historical symbol of the West.
