Description
We saw this storage barn on a drive toward the mountains as they were loading hay and what looked like large bags up the ramp and through the doors for winter. There were no other doors or windows and is strictly for hay and I assume grains, and other dried foods for the horses and cattle. Off to the right back was a bigger barn, where cattle were fenced in and saw some horses. Excellent capture of this gorgeous autumn scene with this beautiful barn, Sandi! I love autumn colors, the barn and gorgeous sky! I enjoyed your description! Brought back memories when I was young and living on the farm. Back then we had smaller rectangular bales of hay and hand lifted them off the bailer and onto the hay rack. When the flatbed wooden hay rack was full, we unloaded it by placing "hay forks" on the corners of eight bales and pushed the forks in. The hay bales would then be lifted up into the air with a pulley system and up to the hayloft where the forks were tripped to release the bails and then the workers in the hayloft lifted each bale and placed in a certain position and continued to stake the bales until the barn was pretty much full to the top. A lot of hard work to feed the animals through the winter. LF
