Every year, we seem to get visits from these blue dasher dragonflies as we have a pond near us where this image was photographed. Doing some research over the years, we learned this is probably a young male as the mature males turn completely blue. What is interesting is when they light, they have a tendency to bend their wings forward while resting and also use then in flight forward to capture their larger prey. Their triangular shaped wings have what looks like stained glass wings with a clear light brown "glass" piece in each wing. The last two years we have had one come visit us on our deck and land on the same metal chair and stay for some time and visit it often. The way they fly, is something to watch as their movements can be quirky and extremely fast.
